American Heart Association Instructor Recertification - BLS

Completion of this course will renew certification as a BLS Instructor through the American Heart Association (AHA). Lab fee includes renewal of CGCC TC affiliation fee. This course is completed in classroom sessions with other instructors to discuss teaching methodology, current science and changes, paperwork, and demonstrate your ability to perform CPR and use the AED correctly and effectively. Each instructor will be monitored in the second half of the class, teaching part of an actual CPR class. The American Heart Association BLS Instructor is authorized to teach both the Heartsaver community level provider classes and the BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR courses. Prior to enrolling in the BLS Instructor course, you must have the following: A current AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR card IF you intend to teach Heartsaver in addition to BLS- Also have a current AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR card A current AHA BLS Instructor card Have completed any required AHA updates or training in the current certification cycle.

Covers the knowledge and skills for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, initial and renewal certification. Prepares a wide variety of healthcare professionals to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in both children and adults. Successful completion of this course provides certification and an AHA BLS Provider Card. The American Heart Association (AHA) requires all students to have a current copy of the course textbook to have it available for personal use. This book will be provided to you in class.

It is a chance to spread your wings and create in clay with instruction in both wheel throwing and hand building with cone 6 clay and glazes. The first bag of clay is included in your tuition. Graphic Design & Visual Language

This 5-week community education course offers a hands-on introduction to graphic design in a relaxed, studio-style setting. Open to all skill levels, students will create projects while learning core design concepts like color, typography, and composition. Classes meet once a week in the computer lab, where students may use the college’s computers and Adobe software or bring their own laptops (students using personal computers are responsible for providing their own Adobe subscription). The focus is on learning by doing and understanding what makes design work. By the end of the course, students will have a better understanding of graphic design fundamentals, increased confidence using design software, and a more trained artistic perspective that can be applied to personal, professional, or creative projects. Students will also go home with a printed poster they will design over the course of the class.
