Manufacturing Makers' Friday: Skills Center Manufacturing Access

 This course is designed to give facilitated and curated access to equipment in CGCC's Skills Center. It provides access and basic training on the use of GTAW/SMAW/GMAW welding equipment, a shear, a sheet metal bender, CNC plasma machines, laser engraving, plastic and resin 3D printing equipment, manual milling equipment, CNC milling equipment, CNC lathe equipment, and small format CNC waterjet. Think of it as the ultimate maker space and a chance to learn on industrial grade and quality equipment that can scale upwards or downwards. Small business participation is encouraged! Equipment access is available on a first-come-first-serve basis during the listed class hours. A CGCC instructor will be present to facilitate use and teach basic CAD/CAM for CNC equipment, but prior experience or knowledge is beneficial. Students can be approved for independent equipment use through a badging process. Basic and small scrap materials are provided. For more in depth projects, materials can be purchased at cost from CGCC. Safety training and equipment demonstration is provided in person as needed before using each type of equipment for the first time.

BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Course - Hood River

Covers the knowledge and skills for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, initial and renewal certification. Prepares a wide variety of healthcare professionals to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in both children and adults. Successful completion of this course provides certification and an AHA BLS Provider Card. The American Heart Association (AHA) requires all students to have a current copy of the course textbook to have it available for personal use. This book will be provided to you in class.

This two-hour training prepares you to join Uplift Local's Gorge Documenters team — community members who are paid to go to local public meetings and take notes. The class covers practical skills such as how to attend, understand what's happening, and take effective notes at public meetings, as well as relevant laws and the ways local government decisions affect people's lives. The class includes a hands-on practice session. Materials are provided for review and reference. Completing the course and a short quiz makes you eligible for paid assignments taking notes at public meetings in Gorge communities across Hood River, Wasco, Klickitat and Skamania counties and eligible for future free opportunities through Uplift Local to learn and use other journalism and information-related skills.

Basket Weaving - Jelly Jar Basket
