Astronomy: An Introduction to Creation-Based Astronomy

Explore the universe through a creation-based lens in this introductory astronomy course. Over ten sessions, we’ll examine recent space discoveries and what they reveal about the Earth, Moon, planets, galaxies, and the cosmos — all from a biblical perspective. Using the photo-rich book Guide to the Universe, and featuring presentations by the son of Lunar and Planetary Astronomer Gerard P. Kuiper, this course blends science with faith for a thoughtful look at the heavens.. Students will have to purchase the Guide to the Universe, by Institute for Creation Research (ISBN-10 193558782X) text book before the start of class.

Pottery - Studio

Must be registered for Pottery as well to take the studio session. Studio time to develop your pottery skills to a new level by taking this class! It’s a chance to spread your wings and create what you want. This class is for beginning to advanced potters and covers levels of hand-building and wheel-throwing technique working with cone 6, mid-range clay and glazes with instruction in both. Clay is not included, but can be purchased from the CGCC Bookstore. No discounts or waivers.

Manufacturing Makers' Friday: Skills Center Manufacturing Access

This course is designed to give facilitated and curated access to equipment in CGCC's Skills Center. It provides access and basic training on the use of GTAW/SMAW/GMAW welding equipment, a shear, a sheet metal bender, CNC plasma machines, laser engraving, plastic and resin 3D printing equipment, manual milling equipment, CNC milling equipment, CNC lathe equipment, and small format CNC waterjet. Think of it as the ultimate maker space and a chance to learn on industrial grade and quality equipment that can scale upwards or downwards. Small business participation is encouraged! Equipment access is available on a first-come-first-serve basis during the listed class hours. A CGCC instructor will be present to facilitate use and teach basic CAD/CAM for CNC equipment, but prior experience or knowledge is beneficial. Students can be approved for independent equipment use through a badging process. Basic and small scrap materials are provided. For more in depth projects, materials can be purchased at cost from CGCC. Safety training and equipment demonstration is provided in person as needed before using each type of equipment for the first time.

Real Estate Broker License Exam Prep

Prepare for the Oregon Real Estate Broker License Exam in just 10 weeks. This course combines weekly interactive Zoom sessions with online home study to meet the Oregon Real Estate Agency (OREA) requirement. You must complete a total of 150 hours of study between weekly Zoom classes and online studies (Saturday session does not count toward 150 hour total). Plan to spend 10-15 hours each week completing the online home study in addition to attending Thursday evening classes. The course is approved by the OREA. Students need: 1. reliable internet access, 2. laptop or desktop computer, 3. webcam and microphone for Zoom 4. ability to scan and send pdfs to instructor after each final exam Regular class runs every Thursday from 10/2/2025 to 12/11/2025 from 6pm to 9pm. American Heart Association Instructor Recertification - BLS

Completion of this course will renew certification as a BLS Instructor through the American Heart Association (AHA). Lab fee includes renewal of CGCC TC affiliation fee. This course is completed in classroom sessions with other instructors to discuss teaching methodology, current science and changes, paperwork, and demonstrate your ability to perform CPR and use the AED correctly and effectively. Each instructor will be monitored in the second half of the class, teaching part of an actual CPR class. The American Heart Association BLS Instructor is authorized to teach both the Heartsaver community level provider classes and the BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR courses. Prior to enrolling in the BLS Instructor course, you must have the following: • A current AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR card • IF you intend to teach Heartsaver in addition to BLS- Also have a current AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR card • A current AHA BLS Instructor card • Have completed any required AHA updates or training in the current certification cycle.

Basket Weaving - Bean Pot Basket

Have you ever wanted to learn how to weave a basket? This is your chance to weave a Bean Pot Basket. It is a round woven basket with a wire handle and wooden grip. It is created with natural reed and dyed reed which creates a somewhat checkered pattern. The base is a spoke wheel type of base. You will learn every step and leave with a completed basket. The techniques you will learn in this basket is a continuous weave with two reeds simutaniously.

BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Course

Covers the knowledge and skills for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, initial and renewal certification. Prepares a wide variety of healthcare professionals to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in both children and adults. Successful completion of this course provides certification and an AHA BLS Provider Card. The American Heart Association (AHA) requires all students to have a current copy of the course textbook to have it available for personal use. This book will be provided to you in class. *The American Heart Association (AHA) strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS), and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA, and any fees charged for such a course do not represent income to the Association.
