Develop or improve your pottery skills by taking this class. Classes are open to all proficiency levels from beginner to advanced with instruction to match your needs. It is a chance to spread your wings and create in clay with instruction in both wheel throwing and hand building with cone 6 clay and glazes. The first bag of clay is included in your tuition. No discounts or waivers.

Pottery - Studio

Must be registered for Pottery as well to take the studio session. Studio time to develop your pottery skills to a new level by taking this class! It’s a chance to spread your wings and create what you want. This class is for beginning to advanced potters and covers levels of hand-building and wheel-throwing technique working with cone 6, mid-range clay and glazes with instruction in both. Clay is not included, but can be purchased from the CGCC Bookstore. No discounts or waivers.

Basket Weaving - Remote and Things Basket

This basket is a market style basket that measures approximately 8” x 10” x 3” and has a wooden handle. You will learn everything you need to know to weave this basket and will leave class with a completed basket.

How to make a Fabric-wrapped basket (Sewing)

Students will learn the techniques for wrapping clothesline with fabric and building a basket (or bowl). They will learn how to shape the basket and finish it (beads, buttons, etc.). They will complete a small basket, approximately 3" high and 7" across. Students need to bring a sewing machine with zigzag capability (instructor can provide one machine for someone who doesn't have one) and have a working knowledge of using it. Students need to bring 1/2 yard of cotton fabric, cut on the bias in 3/4" strips (the cutting can be done in class if necessary). They will also need thread. Clothesline and glue will be provided.

Using traditional Japanese calligraphy kits, participants in this two-part workshop will learn and expand on the fundamentals of brush and ink painting. No prior experience is needed.
