El Curso de Primero Auxilios de Heartsaver enseña a rescatistas a reconocer y tratar eficazmente las emergencias de adultos en los primeros minutos críticos hasta que llegue el personal del servicio médico de emergencia. El curso también provee un entrenamiento completo de salud y seguridad de soluciones de Primeros Auxilios, Cardiopulmonar y Resucitación de adultos e infantes,y un Desfibrilador Automático Externo (conocido por sus siglas en inglés, AED). El curso cumple con el requisito de licencia para el cuidado infantil del Estado de Oregon. This two-hour training prepares you to join Uplift Local's Gorge Documenters team — community members who are paid to go to local public meetings and take notes. The class covers practical skills such as how to attend, understand what's happening, and take effective notes at public meetings, as well as relevant laws and the ways local government decisions affect people's lives. The class includes a hands-on practice session. Materials are provided for review and reference. Completing the course and a short quiz makes you eligible for paid assignments taking notes at public meetings in Gorge communities across Hood River, Wasco, Klickitat and Skamania counties and eligible for future free opportunities through Uplift Local to learn and use other journalism and information-related skills.

Completion of this course will renew certification as a BLS Instructor through the American Heart Association (AHA). Lab fee includes renewal of CGCC TC affiliation fee. This course is completed in classroom sessions with other instructors to discuss teaching methodology, current science and changes, paperwork, and demonstrate your ability to perform CPR and use the AED correctly and effectively. Each instructor will be monitored in the second half of the class, teaching part of an actual CPR class. The American Heart Association BLS Instructor is authorized to teach both the Heartsaver community level provider classes and the BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR courses. Prior to enrolling in the BLS Instructor course, you must have the following: A current AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR card IF you intend to teach Heartsaver in addition to BLS- Also have a current AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR card A current AHA BLS Instructor card Have completed any required AHA updates or training in the current certification cycle.

Covers the knowledge and skills for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, initial and renewal certification. Prepares a wide variety of healthcare professionals to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in both children and adults. Successful completion of this course provides certification and an AHA BLS Provider Card. The American Heart Association (AHA) requires all students to have a current copy of the course textbook to have it available for personal use. This book will be provided to you in class.
