In early childhood education, how to manage “challenging” behaviors is a common question, and topic of interest. However, to address behavior, we must first question who defines what is challenging, by which norms we are comparing children to, and how these views rooted in Eurocentric and western development theories limit inclusion, belonging and justice in early childhood education.
