BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Course - Hood River
Covers the knowledge and skills for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, initial and renewal certification. Prepares a wide variety of healthcare professionals to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in both children and adults. Successful completion of this course provides certification and an AHA BLS Provider Card. The American Heart Association (AHA) requires all students to have a current copy of the course textbook to have it available for personal use. This book will be provided to you in class.

So join us and become part of the growing community of Citizen Scientists! The course is designed for adults in terms of content and presentation style, but we welcome all motivated high school-aged naturalists. Each participant will need a smartphone. There will be both indoor and outdoor activities, so please come prepared for the weather and be ready to walk on a ¼ mile-paved trail. This event is hosted by Gorge Ecology Outdoors, in partnership with Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum and Columbia Gorge Community College.
Market Basket Weaving

The techniques you will learn in making this basket are a standard start-stop weave, and twining for locking in the base. At the end of the class, you will be able to take your Market Basket home with you. We will be using reed from a woody vine out of Asia. These vines grow quickly and the material is wonderful for this type of weaving. No discounts or waivers.

Blended learning is a combination of eLearning (online portion), in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session. Covers the knowledge and skills for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, initial and renewal certification. Prepares a wide variety of healthcare professionals to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in both children and adults. Successful completion of this course provides certification and an AHA BLS Provider Card. Online class portion needs to be done before the day of class. You will receive an email from CGCC AHA Training center with a link to the online class portion.

The Heartsaver First Aid Course Teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical service personnel arrive. The course also provides a complete health and safety training solution for first aid, adult/infant CPR, and Automated External Defibrillation AED. Course meets the State of Oregon daycare licensing requirement. American Heart Association (AHA) requires all students to have a copy of the course textbook to prepare for the course and to have it available for personal use. The book will be provided to you in class.

El curso también provee un entrenamiento completo de salud y seguridad de soluciones de Primeros Auxilios, Cardiopulmonar y Resucitación de adultos e infantes,y un Desfibrilador Automático Externo (conocido por sus siglas en inglés, AED). El curso cumple con el requisito de licencia para el cuidado infantil del Estado de Oregon. La Asociación de American Heart (AHA, por sus siglas en inglés) requiere que todos los estudiantes tengan un copia del libro de texto para prepararse para el curso y para tenerlo disponible para uso personal.
