Manufacturing Makers' Friday: Skills Center Manufacturing Access

$150

with Lindsey Hegemann

Calendar Next available session starts May 10, 2024 at 9 am, runs for 5 weeks

This course is designed to give facilitated and curated access to equipment in CGCC's Skills Center. It provides access and basic training on the use of GTAW/SMAW/GMAW welding equipment, a shear, a sheet metal bender, CNC plasma machines, laser engraving, plastic and resin 3D printing equipment, manual milling equipment, CNC milling equipment, CNC lathe equipment, and small format CNC waterjet. Think of it as the ultimate maker space and a chance to learn on industrial grade and quality equipment that can scale upwards or downwards. Small business participation is encouraged! Equipment access is available on a first-come-first-serve basis during the listed class hours. A CGCC instructor will be present to facilitate use and teach basic CAD/CAM for CNC equipment, but prior experience or knowledge is beneficial. Students can be approved for independent equipment use through a badging process. Basic and small scrap materials are provided. For more in depth projects, materials can be purchased at cost from CGCC. A general safety course must be taken prior to usage of equipment. The training is provided by S/P2 and is taken online; this can be done at CGCC or from home. Proof of completion must be provided and retained by CGCC.
