This 5-week community education course offers a hands-on introduction to graphic design in a relaxed, studio-style setting. Open to all skill levels, students will create projects while learning core design concepts like color, typography, and composition. Classes meet once a week in the computer lab, where students may use the college’s computers and Adobe software or bring their own laptops (students using personal computers are responsible for providing their own Adobe subscription). The focus is on learning by doing and understanding what makes design work. By the end of the course, students will have a better understanding of graphic design fundamentals, increased confidence using design software, and a more trained artistic perspective that can be applied to personal, professional, or creative projects. Students will also go home with a printed poster they will design over the course of the class.
